| WICCA FROM A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE |

I could fill this page up with scriptures concerning witchcraft and the occult but the few I’ve listed HERE are more than sufficient. I want to get extremely basic and go to the very foundations of the motives that would draw one to desire to manipulate their environment. For any one that believes the Bible, we know that witchcraft is witchcraft. Be it black, white, or many shades of grey, it is all the same in our heavenly Fathers eyes. Trafficking with demons will always carry the same price for those that refuse to repent. Wicca is simply referred to as “white witchcraft” or “good magic” by its followers. From a scriptural position, that is even more deceptive than “black magic”. If Satan can convince one they are doing good and that he is not involved in their supernatural experiences, then he’s “got em”. Please do not ever forget that Satan hates mankind with a passion. When God gave Adam dominion and authority over Earth, it had to be a major insult and source of jealousy and rage. Lucifer once had dominion and authority before his heart was filled with pride. There are even some strong hints in the scripture that he ruled over some type of life that had order to it. The very subject is referred to by some as the “Pre-Adamite world”. Ezekiel 28:15 tells us he was blameless in all his ways until wickedness was found in him. Satan understands how sin works. He understands the very nature and perfection of the Almighty probably far more than any of us will in this present life. He knows full well that by the very nature of “who God is”, that no sin or perversion of Gods creation can exist in God’s presence. He knows these things far more than we do. For a fallen and sinful human, made in the image and likeness of God to repent, receive salvation and eternal life from the Lord, is almost more than he can bear. To see mortal man such as you or me, struggle to overcome sin, make Jesus truly Lord of our life and enjoy the glories of eternity that he forfeited, must be a horrible thing for Satan. He is only interested in the “head count of hell” being as high as possible when it’s all over. He only cares about seeing to it that as few of us as possible, escape the eternal torment that he will receive. Having said that, I will say that there is no trick Satan will not employ. If one wants drugs or sex, it’s no problem for him to accommodate. If he thinks he can push one to suicide by preventing happiness, he will work from that angle. If man wants to be religious without falling at the foot of the cross of Calvary, repenting (turning away from sin) and letting the blood of Jesus Christ cleanse and cover him, he will give one all the “religion” they could want. It just doesn’t matter what method he uses if his end results suite him. The occult world comes in all shapes and sizes. Some is blatantly ruthless and some is so subtle and innocent appearing few ever notice. Herein lays the fundamental difference between true Christianity and the whole psychic and occult world. It is even simpler than “angels vs. demons”. It is the same difference as true worship of God vs. the worship of self. The Apostle Paul made a awesome statement in his letter to the Romans. “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” (Romans 5:3-5) It is impossible to identify with this passage of scripture and desire to manipulate your environment for your purposes. Gods will for every one of his children is that we die to our self so that “Christ can live through us”. James and Peter have very strong things to say about “being patient in trials” knowing that the trial of your faith is of greater worth than “gold refined by fire”. James wrote “Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” (James 1:3-4) It is impossible to be patient before the Lord and yet seek to use supernatural forces to bring things about in your life. Paul wrote “be anxious for nothing” in Philippians 4. Jesus flat out told us that if any man is not willing to carry his cross, he cannot be his follower, or disciple. The very core of being a Christian is to glorify God with your life and submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Even if we have few stellar examples in our “modern” world, that is still God’s desire and command. Jesus wants all of our heart. He has no interest in half hearts. Jesus will work with a “half heart” for a time, but will always lead that person to a crucial decision of making him Lord of all or not Lord at all. The Bible is full of examples of men who compromised and tried to obey God “half way”. It doesn’t work. The reason it doesn’t work is that the very concept runs opposite of being a servant or “bond servant” as Paul put it. It is totally impossible to desire to manipulate your environment and have a “servants heart” before the Lord. One cannot seek to control their life and allow Jesus Christ to be in control. How can I obey the command to “be anxious for nothing” while being obsessed about what the future holds? How can I let “patience have its perfect work” regarding trials and suffering yet seek to manipulate a change in circumstances? How can I forgive my brother for his trespasses and yet want to “cast a spell to get even? There is no way I can “trust the Lord” with my life and yet seek to use supernatural forces for my carnal advantage. What I am talking about is as basic as serving the Lord or serving myself, and that’s where the “rubber meets the road”. Jesus said: “in patience, preserve your soul”. That’s a mouthful. How many of our big mistakes in life have come from impatience? How often we err in judgment running out to force a change. How many times have we got our self in big trouble running out half cocked to deal with an unfavorable situation instead of going to the Lord in prayer? To serve yourself by occult methods is of course, worse than to just ignore God and live for yourself. Once one opens the door to the occult world, the demonic footholds can be very hard to walk away from unless Jesus Christ intervenes. Once another entity is allowed to influence ones spirit, mind and thinking, the very control you think you are gaining, is actually given to another. The control a witch desires is actually given over to fallen angles and demons. The witch, once a human being made in the image and likeness of God, then reduces their existence to being a “slave of Satan” and not even understanding what has happened. They do just what Adam did and hand the authority God gave man (on a personal basis) back to the Devil. Your free will is more powerful than all the fallen angels put together. Isn’t God awesome? Isn’t he good? He has established boundaries and parameters in the unseen spirit world we know little about. By using our free will to obey his commandments, we receive much protection by default. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:5-7 (NIV) |
